The Better Rating

Consistency matters. So we built one scoring system of handpicked criteria we think matter most — and every review uses it, whether the product is an iOS app or a television.

    Features and capabilities — does the product fulfill its intended purpose while meeting the needs of the person using it?

    Performance

    20 points

    How well the product actually operates: speed, stability, efficiency and responsiveness, with an emphasis on real execution.

    User Interface

    15 points

    The visuals and interactive elements — design, layout and navigation, judged on their own apart from ease of use.

    Innovation

    15 points

    Uniqueness and novelty. Does it introduce new concepts, tech or approaches, and how forward-thinking is it?

    Versus the Field

    15 points

    How it stacks up against the competition on features, performance, pricing and overall value — strengths and shortcomings.

  6. 6

    Ease of Use

    10 points

    Can someone pick it up and immediately grasp it? Installation, setup, configuration and day-to-day use.
